Being an engineer at Shotgun

At Shotgun, engineers have a lot of ownership, as they both build features and make crucial product decisions.

We move and ship fast, by maintaining a constant balance between quality and efficiency. We also regularly take time to work on long-term challenges, even if it implies to rebuild a product from scratch.

Since the features we ship are used in real time on the field, we make sure stuff we ship works.

Our stack

We like to try new things out but most of our stack is built around Typescript back and front, as it increased our productivity individually and as a team. Here are the things we use - and love:

What you will do

Working hand-in-hand with the CTO, your key mission is making sure that Shotgun can scale x10 other the next year.

It boils down to the action items below - the list not being exhaustive and up to you to complete πŸ˜‰

  • You will design and implement solutions to critical scalability issues, eg: demand peaks on Event sales opening
  • You will work closely with engineers to improve and keep an high-quality standard of performance, sharing best practices and knowledge
  • You will tune our infrastructure to monitor and improve our performances, anticipating bottlenecks and keeping in mind costs & other developers experience
  • You will work with full stack engineers on projects requiring backend expertise, being at the application or data model level

While we have offices in Paris, Marseille, New York and Sao Paulo, you're free to work from anywhere you want, still being roughly in the same timezone than the rest of your team.
